Jay's EDU Online class, precautionary measure against COVID-19
Jay’s EUD입니다.
미국에서 COVID-19의 사태가 심각해지고 있고, 본원에 많은 학생들이 재학중인 GBN/GBS, New Trier, Deerfield, Stevenson High School등의 학교가 3월 13일 혹은 3월 14일부터 무기한 혹은 3주간의 휴교에 들어갑니다. 따라서, Jay’s EDU의 모든 학생들과 가족의 건강을 위하여 본원의 모든 수업을 Online 수업으로 전환 하였습니다. 학생과 학부모님들의 건강을 위한 결정입니다.
Since the situation of COVID-19 is getting serious around the Chicago Land area, many schools, including GBN/GBS, New Trier, Deerfield, Stevenson, Fremd, Conant High School, etc., are closing their schools effective almost immediately for minimum of three weeks. For precaution measures against COVID-19, Jay’s EDU made transition from ‘in-person’ class to ‘online’ class since March 13, Friday.
본 학원 Online 수업 전환을 하게된 것의 핵심은 학생의 안전이며, 그동안 학원에서의 tutor와 학생간의 ‘two-way’의 수업 방식이 ‘one-way’의 수업방식으로 바뀌는 것은 아닙니다. Google Classroom과 webcam등으로 학생들의 수업 참여가 ‘in-person’의 수업과 동일하게 이루어 질 것입니다.
The main idea of transition to online class is the safety of students and their family members; however, the online sessions will remain as interactive as ‘in-person’ class with help of Google Classroom, webcam, etc.
학생과 Jay 원장과의 interactive 수업이 중요합니다. 수업 시작 전에 카메라와 오디오 세팅을 미리 확인하기를 부탁드립니다. 테스트를 위하여 금요일 (3/13)과 토요일 (3/14) 오전 각 오전 10시부터 2시간 일요일 (3/15) 오후 3시부터 2시간동안 온라인 classroom을 열어 놓도록 하겠습니다. 미리 접속하셔서 카메라와 마이크의 세팅을 확인해 주시기 부탁드리겠습니다. 위에 알려드린 이외의 시간에는 온라인 수업이 진행 중 일 수 있습니다. 시간을 잘 지켜주시기를 부탁드리겠습니다.
It is important to have interactive lessons between the students and Jay. Please check the camera and audio settings before the class. For the test, we will have an online classroom open from 10 am to 12 pm on Friday (3/13) and Saturday (3/14) and 3-5 pm on Sunday (3/15). Please ‘join-in’ the online classroom in advance and check the necessary settings. Online classes may be in progress other time than noted above. Please keep the announced time.

당부의 말씀 / Food for thoughts
현재 Jay’s EDU의 모든 수업은 Online으로 정상 진행되고 있습니다. Jay’s EDU의 Online 수업은 학생들과 학부모님의 안전을 위한 조치이며 본원과 본원의 학생들의 스케줄에는 지장이 없도록 하겠습니다. Currently, all of Jay's EDU classes are conducted online. The decision is for precaution measures against COVID-19, our best interest is our students’ health and safety.
하지만, 상황이 Washington주 혹은 California주, New York주와 같은 상황이 된다면, 학년의 두 번째 학기 중반을 지나고 있는 학생과 대학 지원을 앞둔 Junior 학생들에게는 학업/시험 계획에 차질을 초래하는 위기가 될 수 있습니다. 이러한 위기를 슬기롭게 극복할 수 있도록 다음 몇 가지 당부를 드리고자 합니다. If COVID-19 situation persists for months, that might disrupt academic / exam schedules for Junior students who are about to apply for college. To prevent confusion and frustration over students’ academics, I would like to give you a few food for thoughts.

본 학원 Online 수업으로 전환 하였지만 본 학원이 학생들에게 해왔던 밀착관리가 가정으로 옮겨지는 것은 아닙니다. 그동안 진행되던 숙제를 포함한 수업내용의 관리는 Google Classroom을 통하여 더 나은 방법으로 진행될 것입니다. Even with the transition to online classes, Jay’s EDU will conduct the close management our students’ academic progress with help of Google Classroom as well as other means.
본 학원 Online 수업 전환을 하게된다 하더라도, Jay’s EDU 상담실의 extracurricular의 관리는 계속 될 예정입니다. 특히 summer programs, convention, competition, exhibition, school club, publishing, entrepreneurship 등의 정보는 해당 학부모님들과 학생들에게 차질 없이 제공될 예정입니다. Even with the transition to online classes, our extracurricular activity management will continue. In particular, information of activities, such as summer programs, conventions, competitions, exhibitions, school clubs, publishing, and entrepreneurship, will be provided to parents and students.
Junior 학생들은 시험 준비와 college visit를 차질 없이 준비해 주셔야 하겠습니다. 일부의 경우 SAT/ACT와 AP 시험 스케줄 역시 연기되는 경우도 있습니다. 반드시 차선책을 세워 놓고 입시준비를 해 나가야 하겠습니다. 만일 시험이 영향을 받을 경우는, 이번 COVID-19의 상황이 끝난 후 원하는 시험 점수를 받을 수 있도록 준비하는 것이 중요합니다. Junior students should prepare for ACT/SAT tests and college visits without disruption. In some cases, SAT / ACT and AP test schedules may also be postponed. Students must prepare the next best and prepare for the college entrance. If the exam is to be affected, it is important to be prepared the test after this COVID-19 situation is over.
대부분의 대학에서 College visit와 information session을 취소하거나, COVID-19 확산 지역의 학생의 참여를 허가하지 않고 있습니다. 학생의 건강과 안전을 위하여 COVID-19의 확산 지역을 방문하지 않는 것을 추천 드립니다. College visit과 information session의 목적은 학생의 interest를 대학에 알려주는 것에 있으니, 만일 college visit가 가능하지 않을 경우, 각 대학에서 제공하는 email link, admission officer (입학사정관)과의 연락, virtual really campus visit등 최대한 이용하여 학생의 interest를 대학에 보여주는 것도 차선책이 될 수 있습니다. Most colleges cancel/have cancelled their college visits and information sessions; it is impossible for Juniors to visit colleges or attending information sessions. The purpose of the college visit and information session is to appeal students’ interests to the universities, so if college visits are not possible, use email links from universities, contact with the admission officers, use virtual really campus visits. Those may also be a good idea to show your interest to the university.
